Twenty minutes is a walk
You do not need a training plan, a watch, or a better pair of shoes. You need to leave the house.

A lot of exercise advice is a recruitment pitch. It wants you in a program, in a garment, in a relationship with a number on a screen. You can ignore all of that and still get the part that matters.
Walk for twenty minutes. Most days. Outside if you can. That is the piece.
The shoes you already own are the correct shoes.
After lunch is a good time because the day has a seam there. After the heat breaks is a good time if you live somewhere that still feels like August at 3 p.m. After dinner is a good time if the streets are lit and you feel safe. The “right” time is the one you will actually use.
What this is not
It is not a 10K plan. It is not “getting your steps.” It is not a personality. It is blood moving, joints remembering they have a job, and a brain that thinks more clearly when the body is not parked.
If you want to walk longer on Saturday, walk longer on Saturday. If you only have twelve minutes, take twelve. The people who tell you that doesn’t “count” are selling something.
Leave the phone in a pocket, not in your hand. Look at the block. That is the whole method.
